I-35 SB near New Laredo Highway remains closed after 18-wheeler fire

SAN ANTONIO – A 18-wheeler caught fire following a crash and has shut down Interstate 35 southbound on the city’s South Side early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. along I-35 southbound, near New Laredo Highway.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department, the big rig was not carrying a load and two passengers were in the truck. No injuries however were reported.

The highway remains closed, but crews have put out the fire, according to TxDOT. Motorists should avoid the area as emergency crews remain on scene.
