Multiple 18-wheeler accidents create issues for early commuters

3 major accidents shut down roadways across city

SAN ANTONIO – Multiple 18-wheeler accidents overnight caused some headaches for morning commuters early Tuesday.

Loop 1604 between Nacogdoches Road and Lookout Road at one point was completely closed. Presently the westbound lanes are open but the eastbound direction is still closed.

Another 18-wheeler accident was reported on the northbound Interstate 35 entrance ramp coming from Rittiman Road. That accident has been cleared.

Loop 1604 at NW Military Highway also had an 18-wheeler accident that closed the highway in both directions. The eastbound lanes opened first, with the westbound lanes finally opening around 6 a.m.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday an 18-wheeler accident also occurred on Interstate 37 South near US Highway 181. In that instance the 18-wheeler was traveling southbound when it hit the guardrail, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and jackknife. Hazmat was called to clean the scene. No one was hurt in the accident, and the road has since completely reopened.
