SAN ANTONIO – A woman was killed after she was hit by an SUV early Wednesday on the city's Northeast Side, San Antonio police said.

The fatality was reported just after 7 a.m. in the 2300 block of Austin Highway.

Police said the woman, identified as Beverly Perryman, 47, of San Antonio, tried to cross four lanes of traffic.

She was able to get past the first two northbound lanes but was struck by the vehicle in the right southbound lane.

Perryman was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where she died, police said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle stopped to render aid and will not be cited.
