Family of Melissa Perez files wrongful death lawsuit

The family of Melissa Perez has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the three SAPD officers charged with her murder and the City of San Antonio. CNN reports the lawsuit alleges that SAPD's "formal and informal" policies were the moving force behind Perez's death. It also claims the department's policies relating to mental health and the mental health unit caused her death. The three officers were charged less than 24 hours after the shooting on June 23rd.
