FORECAST
WARM AND WINDY SUNDAY
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
While some patchy fog can’t be ruled out this morning, coverage should not be as high as what was found Saturday. Morning cloud cover will quickly lead way to plenty of sunshine this afternoon as highs climb into the mid-70s shortly after lunchtime.
The highly-advertised Arctic cold front arrives this afternoon, kicking up a healthy north wind with gusts up to 30-35 mph at times. Not only will this usher in noticeably colder air for the upcoming work week, but it will also create elevated fire danger conditions later today. Be careful! We can also expect mountain cedar to rise in the pollen count by Monday as well.
MUCH COLDER AIR ARRIVES
A light freeze is possible by Monday morning in San Antonio as temperatures tumble into the low-30s. Factor in a leftover breeze, and wind chills in the 20s are expected for a few hours, meaning you’ll definitely want to bundle up the kiddos headed out to the school bus stop.
Highs manage to climb to about 50 degrees on Monday afternoon thanks to total sunshine. However, brief, light morning freezes continue through at least Wednesday, so be sure to bring your potted plants inside and give your pets a warm place to sleep. If you live in the Hill Country and want to go ahead and wrap your exposed pipes ahead of the upcoming week, it wouldn’t hurt to do that, too.
It’s important to note here that while afternoons will still be cold (30s & 40s through Friday), San Antonio will manage to climb above freezing each day, so an extended period of sub-freezing temperatures is NOT expected.
WHAT ABOUT PRECIPITATION?
As of now, odds favor a cold rain in San Antonio starting Thursday morning and lasting into Friday. However, a wintry mix can’t completely be ruled out in the Hill Country Thursday and Friday mornings, but it’s still too early to confidently pin down those specifics.
It will likely come down to exactly how cold it gets when the moisture arrives, and every single degree counts. Unfortunately, those details are still uncertain this far out, but we’ll keep you updated on the potential as we get closer.
Please continue to check back in with us! Until then -- have a great day and a great rest of your weekend. ~ Mia
