  • FREEZE TUESDAY MORNING: Temps will dip into the 20s in most spots

FORECAST

Good morning! It has arrived. Temperatures have plummeted into the 30s this morning, while winds have been gusty. The winds will stay breezy, keeping wind chill values in the 20s. Skies will be sunny today, which will give us a bit of warm up. However, highs will only reach the upper-40s.

SOME MAY SEE A HARD FREEZE TONIGHT

With clear skies and lighter winds tonight, temps will plunge into the 20s in most locations, including San Antonio (27°). Uncovered plants will take a hit and while most pipes will be alright, exposed metal pipes may need to be covered. Those in the Hill Country will experience a hard freeze, with low-20s possible.

PRECIPITATION CHANCES

Tuesday will be clear and cold. Clouds arrive starting late Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Any precipitation on Wednesday will be spotty and light, but we’ll need to watch for a light mix in the Hill Country. It’s Thursday that’ll be a cold, wet day for San Antonio. Temperatures will hover in the mid-30s, while showers look like a good bet. Could we see any ice or snow in San Antonio? It’s not looking like a problem as of now, but we can’t rule out sleet, freezing rain, or snow briefly mixing in across northern Bexar County. The impacts would be minimal.

As for the Hill Country, that’s a different story. Sleet and freezing rain will be possible Wednesday night into Thursday. Some snow could eventually mix in as well. Bridges and overpasses will need to be monitored closely during this timeframe.

Any precipitation will exit the area Thursday night, with clearing conditions on Friday.
