FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS

  • CLOUDY & COLD TODAY: Overcast skies will keep us in the 40s
  • RAINY THURSDAY: A steady, cold rain tomorrow afternoon for SA
  • WINTRY MIX HILL COUNTRY: Some spots could see a brief window for freezing rain and sleet, with minimal impacts

FORECAST

Good morning! Clouds have rolled in and they’re here to stay. With clouds skies, temperatures won’t move much today. We’ll start in the mid-30s and only reach the low-40s this afternoon. Don’t expect any rain today.

TONIGHT

Showers will develop after midnight along the Rio Grande and make their way east by sunrise tomorrow. Rain chances do come up a bit, but most of the rain will hold off until later on Thursday.

COLD, WET THURSDAY

A few showers Thursday morning will give way to widespread rainfall by the afternoon. Temperatures will fall into the 30s as the rain sets in . Still, it’ll all be liquid in San Antonio. Expect wet roads and plenty of puddles around town.

GOOD RAINFALL

What may have been lost throughout all this talk about the cold and the possible wintry mix in the Hill Country, is the fact we’ll see good rainfall from this system. For those east of I-35, an inch of rain or more could fall. Even for those west of San Antonio, half of an inch is possible. The steady rain should help our low aquifer levels.

WINTRY MIX IN THE HILL COUNTRY

A bout of sleet or freezing rain is still very much a possibility in the Hill Country, especially early on Thursday. Thankfully, the impacts look minimal. By midday Thursday, it likely turns to all rain. Another window that’ll need to be watched is late Thursday night into pre-dawn Friday. During this time, a few snowflakes may also mix in. Again, any impacts would be minimal. Everyone will see clearing and warmer conditions on Friday.

WARMER WEEKEND

By the weekend, temperatures will rebound to near 60°, with lots of sunshine.
