FORECAST

WEEKEND

Sunny and comfortable in the mid 60s Saturday afternoon, but you’ll feel the colder air by Sunday with afternoon highs only in the mid 40s with a gusty north wind, but at least we’ll have full sunshine. Side note: mountain cedar counts should spike over the weekend as a result of the north wind.

HARD FREEZE MONDAY MORNING, FRIGID MLK MARCH

Temperatures will plummet Sunday night with a hard freeze expected Monday morning. Temperatures in the mid 20s will be widespread, and teens are possible in the Hill Country. Not only that, but winds will still be relatively gusty, putting wind chills in the teens at times. For the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March, you’ll want to dress very warm with temperatures only in the 30s throughout the event.

WINTRY MIX STILL POSSIBLE MONDAY NIGHT

While moisture will be limited and impacts would be minor, a light wintry mix remains possible Monday night through 1pm Tuesday. Odds currently favor a light mix of rain, sleet, freezing rain, and a few snowflakes, but accumulations would be limited. Up to about 0.1″ of icing is possible on elevated surfaces (bridges, overpasses, street signs, decks) is possible, and about a dusting of snow. Any precipitation would come to an end by Tuesday afternoon. Intensity and distribution of precipitation remain uncertain, with moisture potentially being drawn southeast away from us. Hence, only a 40% chance of the wintry mix holds for now.

MORE COLD MORNINGS

Plan for morning freezes Sunday through Wednesday with a few hard freezes mixed in as well. Another freeze is expected Tuesday morning and a Wednesday. In fact, should skies clear, Wednesday morning has the potential to be quite cold.
