SAN ANTONIO – The Padre Island National Seashore is closing in anticipation of tropical storm Harvey.
Harvey is expected to hit peak strength Friday, according to current data, and will likely become a category three hurricane before making landfall Saturday morning.

The park will close Thursday at noon and the closure may last several days, depending on the severity of the storm.

The storm surge is currently predicted to be approximately 4 to 6 feet above normal with surges covering the entire beach, right up to the dunes.
