SAN ANTONIO – A Lanier High School teacher was arrested Monday after marijuana was found in her backpack, a San Antonio Independent School District official said.
The discovery was made during a random K-9 search at the campus, SAISD Executive Director of Communications Leslie Price said.
Ana Alicia Carrera, 23, was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for less than two ounces found in a drug-free zone.
"This is a very disappointing incident, and we do not want it to take away from the rest of the faculty, who serve as positive role models for the students of Lanier High School," Price said.
Carrera, a first-year educator who taught Spanish, resigned her position from the district, Price said.
