SAN ANTONIO – They've worked so hard to overcome personal obstacles, and Tuesday, they were surprised with a special graduation celebration.
The organization Communities in School helped plan the surprise for a group of seniors graduating from South San Antonio ISD.
A lot of the students have made it to graduation day while balancing school with sometimes multiple jobs or working full-time to help their families.
"Graduating for me is really special since I'm the first one to graduate in my family and I'll be going to college to become a teacher," Amanda Carmona said.
Communities in School works with public and charter schools to help empower at-risk students to stay in school and achieve their dreams.
