SAN ANTONIO – More than 100 longhorns filled the streets downtown to officially kick off the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
Saturday morning was the 10th annual Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive.
As parades go this one is unique, not just for the herd of longhorns in the heart of the city, but also because it's the only one in the world without any motorized vehicles.
Everyone has their own favorites.
"Pretty cool. We just got here and we get to see this and it's awesome," said Cesar Orozco, from Laredo. "She likes pets. She loves animals."
Orozco said his daughter, Livia, was most excited to see the dogs herding sheep. But most were there to catch a glimpse of the longhorns.
For 10 years, this longhorn drive has served as the official start of the rodeo in San Antonio, and it keeps growing, from 35 longhorns to the 125 seen Saturday.
There's lots to see and a little something for everyone.
The hourlong family-friendly event featured riding steers, mini molly mules, the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, San Antonio Pipes & Drums, Bexar County Palomino Patrol & Drill Team and many other groups.
"Gosh, I'm very excited to see all the different groups for one thing because I've never seen this many groups, so I'm excited to see the groups and I'm very excited to see our riders, of course," said Robyn Faifer, a Tejas Rodeo Roughriders team mom.
The Stock Show and Rodeo begins Thursday.
