4 children left behind after parents die in tragic crash on Loop 1604

3 children in vehicle were hospitalized

SAN ANTONIO – Four children were left behind after their parents were killed in a crash over the weekend.

On Tuesday, KSAT confirmed the suspected drunk driver who hit the family's car is a Department of Defense Police Officer assigned to Fort Sam Houston.

Justin Fey, 49, faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter, two counts of intoxication assault and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

Jose and Rosa Arias, along with three of their four children, were headed home after their 5-year-old son's football game on Saturday. They were on Loop 1604, off of FM 1346, when Fey hit their car head-on.

Jose and Rosa Arias were killed, and the three children were rushed to the hospital.

"Our hearts are truly devastated," said Adria Hall, with the Highland WarHawks Youth Football and Cheer Organization. "It's truly unimaginable that four kids have been left behind in this tragic accident."

The parents' other daughter had been feeling sick and did not go to her brother's game.

Hall said the organization is stepping up to help.

"We want to make sure that the Arias family has what they need to continue the care for the four surviving family members because it's going to be a huge financial burden, so we want to alleviate as much as possible," Hall said.

Hall said the parents were hard-working and that they never missed an opportunity to help the team.

"They are our family," Hall said. "They are the Highland WarHawks, part of our organization and our family. However, they are children of the City of San Antonio and they need every ounce of or prayers and love and any kind of donations that can be given."

Anyone who would like to help can contact the Highland WarHawks Youth Football and Cheer Organization at 210-289-1244.
