Officer Marcus Trujillo explains there is one reason you should use your hazard lights while driving.
"Emergency flashers are just that - they're to indicate an emergency. Anytime you get up on the highway, that's usually for going long distances. We've all seen that vehicle that's traveling on the highway and for whatever reason the driver has the hazard lights on for miles and miles and miles. If there's something wrong with your vehicle that you fear there is probably going to be an emergency situation, then you shouldn't be on the highway. You should stick the to the access roads or the surface streets. The emergency lights are to warn somebody of an immediate danger right then and there - not something that might happen 5 miles, 6 miles, 15 miles down the road."
