Family begs for answers in 9-year-old unsolved murder

Blase Wright was shot dead in his Universal City apartment in 2007

SAN ANTONIO – It's an anniversary no family wants to remember. In just two days, a San Antonio family will deal with the nine-year anniversary of Blase Wright's murder, one that is still unsolved.

Wright's youngest sister wants the public to know it's not too late to come forward with information.

"He was only 21 so it was really difficult to have his life taken away so fast."

Hope, tethered by nine years of ups and downs.

"Everybody loved him. I mean at his funeral there were just hundreds and hundreds of people," said Wright's youngest sister Chelsea Baker.

It's been nearly a decade since Wright was murdered in his apartment in Universal City.

"What we believe was a burglary, they had gotten into his apartment, I guess they were going to steal stuff, so there was a scuffle and he ended up getting shot in the face," Baker said.

The Texas Ranger's cold case website lists witness descriptions of three possible suspects: a man who went up to the apartment, and a woman in a gold car, and the passenger of that car. None were ever tracked down.

The last lead Universal City PD had was back in 2009 when suspects in a San Antonio drive by shooting used the same gun that was used two years before to kill Wright. However, those suspects were never found either.

"A roller coaster of emotions. You want to get your hopes up because you hope that somebody will come forward, but then it doesn't happen," Baker said.

It's been one heartbreak after another for Wright's family, but Baker isn't giving up.

"There's somebody out there and they know something. And I just don't understand how they could go on living knowing that they have that on their shoulders. It would bring some peace to us to know that person is behind bars," Baker said.

She said now, her brother's killer is still roaming the streets, able to hurt someone else.

If you want to report information, call Universal City Police Department at (210) 658-5355.
