SAN ANTONIO – Information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of a San Antonio police detective could lead to a $25,000 reward, after a contribution from the Office of the Governor’s Fallen Hero Reward Texas Remembers program.
San Antonio police Detective Benjamin Marconi, 50, was shot and killed Sunday.

SAPD: Person of interest now considered suspect in detective fatal shooting
San Antonio police Chief William McManus said Marconi was writing a ticket in his patrol car when he was ambushed by his assailant, who shot him twice, once in the head. Marconi was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he died.
The shooter was described as a black man in his 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a gray shirt and black pants and appeared to have a goatee (pictured at right). He fled in a black 2009-2012, four-door Mitsubishi Gallant with chrome rims (pictured above).
SAPD takes precautions for officers after officer killed in line of duty
Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Marconi’s killer. The $15,000 reward from the governor’s office brings the total reward to $25,000.
