Local bands to honor fallen firefighter Scott Deem at Flag Day benefit show

SAN ANTONIO – Combining patriotism and philanthropy, fallen San Antonio firefighter Scott Deem will be honored during a benefit concert on Flag Day, with proceeds going to the 100 Club of San Antonio.

The concert will be held June 14 at Big Texas Ice House and the Texas Cavaliers charitable organization will make a special presentation to the 100 Club, which provides support to Bexar County law enforcement officers, firefighters and their families.

Deem, 31, was killed May 18 battling a four-alarm fire at the Ingram Park Square shopping center. Two other firefighters, Robert Vasquez and Brad Phipps, were injured as well. Phipps remains in the hospital.

The Flag Day benefit show will feature long-running Texas country and rockers Two Tons of Steel as headliners, with support from Brian Strange and the Strange Brothers. Strange is a volunteer firefighter with Leon Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
 
A custom acoustic guitar signed by more than 40 local, regional and nationally acclaimed country performers will be raffled, along with silent auction items donated by local breweries and craft distilleries.

The concert runs from 6 p.m. until midnight at Big Texas Ice House, at 16620 Highway 281 North in the Parks Oaks Shopping Center off the Thousand Oaks Exit.

A $10 donation will be collected at the door, with all proceeds going to the 100 Club.
