Lopez was allegedly involved Sept. 29 in the death of two people at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Patricia Drive on the north side of San Antonio, according to U.S. Marshals.
The victims were found in an apartment after suffering fatal gunshot wounds, reports stated.
After a thorough investigation by homicide detectives with the San Antonio Police Department, a warrant was issued for Lopez’s arrest for his involvement in the deaths, U.S. Marshals said.
Authorities initiated an investigation Thursday in finding and apprehending Lopez. Through investigative efforts and extensive surveillance, task force officers saw Lopez leave an apartment and get into a vehicle in the 1300 block of San Luis Street on the west side of San Antonio, U.S. Marshals said.
Task force officers approached the vehicle, identified themselves, removed Lopez from the vehicle and took him into custody without incident, according to U.S. Marshals.
"This is truly a sad and unfortunate case because three lives have been lost -- the lives of the two victims and the life of this young man who may spend the rest of his life in prison," said Robert R. Almonte, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas.
Lopez is being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.
