SAN ANTONIO – A viral tweet shared Tuesday night shows an on-duty San Antonio Police officer helping a high school student tie his tie before graduation.
Officer Jason Chandler, who is assigned to SAPD’s traffic unit, is seen in one of the two photos wearing the young man’s tie. The second photo shows Chandler putting it on the high school graduate.

According to the tweet, the young man was a student at Holmes High School attending his graduation at the Alamodome.
It also appears that his wardrobe malfunction with the tie might have caused him to be late to the ceremony. The tweet was shared at 6:05 p.m. after the school advised all seniors on the campus website to “Be at the Dome by 6:00 p.m. WITH YOUR CAP AND GOWN!”

Ties can be difficult at times but an essential feature. SAPD said it best on the department’s official Twitter account: “A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life. – Oscar Wilde”
