What’s better than sharing the stories of your hometown? Myra Arthur loves doing just that as an anchor for KSAT News at 6:00 p.m. and KSAT Explains.
Myra joined KSAT in 2012 after working in the Waco-Temple-Killeen TV market where she anchored weekday evening newscasts at KCEN. She was first on the air on November 5, 2009, when 13 people were killed and dozens more injured in a mass shooting at Fort Hood.
Before her time in Central Texas, Myra got up before sunup to anchor a weekday morning show and report for KZTV in the ‘Sparkling City by the Sea,’ (also known as Corpus Christi.)
San Antonio has been home for Myra since the Spurs won their first championship in 1999. She graduated from Ronald Reagan High School and went on to get a journalism degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
While Myra shares the news of the day from the anchor desk, she also reports and hosts the streaming show KSAT Explains. Each week, the team takes one topic and goes in-depth to give that issue more context and perspective.
“I think people have an appetite to go beyond a headline or a handful of soundbites,” Myra said. “They want to know more and KSAT Explains is here to do that.”
Myra and her husband have two boys and spend their weekends at the park, the playground or playing with thousands of toy cars and trucks.
