According to SeaWorld San Antonio Park President Byron Surrett, the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on the theme park’s attendance and revenue. Laid-off workers can apply for future positions at any SeaWorld park. The same is true for the travel, tourism, entertainment, and hospitality industries, and the operations of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Inc. – SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Inc.

The company, which operates the Club Wyndham La Cascada and Club Wyndham Riverside Suites in San Antonio, informed the Texas Workforce Commission that it plans nearly two dozen additional layoffs in August. The Wyndham name has been tied to previous Alamo City layoffs. On April 1, I reported that the Wyndham San Antonio River Walk hotel had laid off 141 employees. Read full article: BioBridge Global announces layoffs of about 100 employees, affecting majority of employees within QualTex LaboratoriesSAN ANTONIO Layoffs of about 100 employees were announced Friday by BioBridge Global, the nonprofit parent of the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center, QualTex Laboratories, GenCure and The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation. According to a released statement, BioBridge Global has experienced the impact of the pandemic across many areas of its operations. The layoffs represent about 14% of its workforce. The majority of employees affected are within the QualTex Laboratories subsidiary, which provides testing services for blood centers and plasma collection centers across the country, according to the release. According to the release, Fridays layoffs will have little impact on the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.

The San Antonio-based burger chain confirmed to KSAT 12 News that the reduction in workforce will spread across 10 states. The reduction is comprised of layoffs and furloughs, Whataburger said. “Like many companies, Whataburger is managing the best it can through this global pandemic,” President Ed Nelson said in a statement. COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new virus, stands for coronavirus disease 2019.
