Behind the Kitchen Door: San Antonio International Airport food businesses earn sky high scores

Health Inspection reports reveal travelers have plenty of clean dining options

SAN ANTONIO – It’s the height of the summer travel season, and thousands of people are moving through San Antonio International Airport every day.

Many of those travelers are hungry and thirsty as they make their way to their final destinations.

The airport’s terminals A and B have several restaurants, bars and snack shops to satisfy the most parched and starved traveler but just how clean are those dining options?

KSAT Investigates pulled the most recent health inspection reports for the food businesses located in the airport and found they all earn high marks.

Terminal A

Adina’s Market

Inspection Date: 01/26/2023

Score: 100

Auntie Anne’s/Cinnabon

Inspection Date: 03/03/2023

Score: 98

Points were deducted for ice scoop used with the large ice machine being stored on a dirty surface on the ice machine and heavy ice buildup around the door of a reach-in freezer.

Inspection Date: 01/26/2023

Score: 98

Points were deducted for the bar ware washing machine’s digital temperature display not working correctly at the time of the inspection.

Score: 98

Points were deducted for hot water being turned off at the ware-washing sink due to a leak and had to be turned on under the sink and for debris on the interior of the ice machine.

Inspection Date: 02/17/2023

Score: 97

Points were deducted for a utensil stored in the handwashing sink, a blue substance on the interior surfaces of both ice machines, and an ice scoop stored in the ice machine with its handle touching the ice.

Famous Famiglia Pizzeria

Inspection Date: 03/03/2023

Score: 94

Points were deducted for leaving pizza out at room temperature without maintaining any “time as a public health control” records, bags of flour stored on the floor, debris on the interior ceiling of the ice machine, and employee beverages in twist-top bottles stored above single-use forks.
