SAN ANTONIO – KSAT Flavor Favs: The Old Main Association
Local tavern serving San Antonio comfort food with a twist
It's only been open for a little over three weeks, but there is already a lot of buzz about The Old Main Association.
The place is a tavern, but it's the food that has many people talking.
Located at 2512 N. Main Ave., The Old Main Association is becoming the place to stop to have a drink or try some of the unique menu items.
From San Antonio, Chef Lorenzo Morales is putting a new spin on some traditional favorites.
One of the most talked-about menu items is the Concha Burger. That's right, the bun is made out of pan de huevo, and this new take on the burger is being called San Antonio comfort food.
"This is San Antonio; it's a newer way of San Antonio," Morales said. "It's not Tex-Mex. We are doing a new age. It's time for a new era of San Antonio."
Other favorites on the menu include the mole fried chicken and the carnival fried mollejas. Also, on Sunday you can find some unique brunch items, like the Captain Crunch chicken and biscuits.
Whether you stop by for a drink or grab a bite to eat, The Old Main Association is a place you can relish the old-school vibe but with a San Antonio flare.
"It's more neighborhood; more chill. It's relaxed. We play funk and soul. We want people to come in here, relax and kind of forget everything and just enjoy it," Morales said.
